Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is made by Storage West Brompton in respect of the current financial year. It sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and exploitation within our operations and supply chains.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Storage West Brompton operates with a clear and unequivocal zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all business dealings and relationships, and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure that modern slavery does not take place in any part of our own business or in our supply chains.
We expect the same high standards from all of our contractors, suppliers, and other business partners. We will not knowingly work with any party that is involved in, or associated with, any form of modern slavery, human trafficking, or forced labour.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Storage West Brompton provides storage and related services to individuals and organisations. Our supply chains include providers of property management services, security, maintenance, cleaning, equipment, and general goods and services required to support our operations.
We recognise that certain sectors and geographic regions present higher risks of labour exploitation. We therefore undertake proportionate due diligence on suppliers, with enhanced scrutiny where the risk profile is elevated.
Supplier Due Diligence and Audits
We are committed to working only with suppliers who share our values and comply with applicable labour and human rights laws. As part of our due diligence process, we aim to:
Assess new suppliers for ethical and labour standards, including their own policies on modern slavery and human trafficking.
Obtain confirmations from relevant suppliers that they comply with applicable legislation relating to employment, working conditions, and human rights.
Include appropriate contractual terms that require suppliers to prevent modern slavery in their own operations and supply chains, and to notify us of any actual or suspected breaches.
Where appropriate and proportionate to risk, we may conduct audits or request evidence to verify that suppliers meet our ethical standards. Failure by a supplier to provide adequate assurance, or any evidence of non-compliance, may result in remediation requirements or termination of the business relationship.
Training, Awareness, and Responsibilities
We are working to increase awareness of modern slavery risks among our employees, especially those involved in procurement, supplier management, and site operations. Responsibilities for implementing this Statement and associated procedures rest with senior management, who oversee risk assessment, supplier controls, and reporting processes.
We encourage all staff to remain vigilant and to raise concerns where they believe there is a risk of modern slavery or exploitation, either within our business or in our supply chains.
Reporting Channels and Protection
We are committed to providing safe and accessible channels for raising concerns about modern slavery and related issues. Employees, contractors, and other stakeholders are encouraged to report any suspicion or evidence of modern slavery or human trafficking through internal reporting routes or directly to senior management.
Reports can be made confidentially, and we will treat all concerns with seriousness and sensitivity. Storage West Brompton does not tolerate victimisation or retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith, even if it is not substantiated after investigation.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
We recognise that the risk of modern slavery is dynamic and requires ongoing vigilance. Storage West Brompton is committed to continuously improving our approach by refining our risk assessment, due diligence, and audit processes, and by strengthening engagement with suppliers on ethical labour standards.
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement will be reviewed at least annually to ensure it remains effective, up to date, and reflective of our business operations, legal obligations, and industry best practice. Where necessary, we will update our policies and procedures and communicate changes to employees and relevant suppliers.
This Statement has been approved by the management of Storage West Brompton, who are responsible for its implementation and oversight.
